The Graduate Certificate in Teaching Elementary School Science is designed to give K-8 teachers a basic understanding of a broad range of topics in physical science, life science, and earth/space science. These courses are specially designed to help K-8 teachers integrate inquiry-based science into the classroom while improving their own science content knowledge.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate a mastery of discipline specific concepts, theory, and application at the elementary instructional level.
- Define and apply elementary science concepts as described in the Next Generation Science Standards.
- Identify that topics in elementary science are linked together and demonstrate how elementary science is connected to other science content.
- Plan, create and adapt teaching activities to create custom elementary science lesson strategies.
