Mental Health Support Graduate Certificate

The graduate online certificate in mental health support provides mental health training for career professionals to better support individuals who work in environments that intersect with human services. This certificate requires 12 credits of online summer coursework. Coursework is focused on human development and helping theories, multicultural and diversity/inclusion education and support, helping skills, crisis management and trauma, stigma in mental health, consultation, career, and leadership theory.

There are two paths for completion of this certificate:

  1. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in a relevant field with a GPA of 3.0 to apply.  Highly motivated applicants with an undergraduate GPA less than 3.0 are still encouraged to contact us to discuss options and the application process.
  2. Current MSU undergraduate students with a cumulative 3.0 or higher may apply for and complete classes in the certificate program while concurrently pursuing their bachelor's degree.  The graduate certificate is conferred upon graduation and is not to be confused with a graduate degree.  Prospective students wishing to pursue this option should contact the program leader to discuss.

As a reminder, university credits can be used for most Montana licensure renewals. Please see the Office of Public Instruction’s Educator Licensure website for specifics regarding university credits.
