Program Learning Outcomes

  • Sociological Principles: Our students will demonstrate an understanding of sociology’s core conceptual, theoretical, and empirical principles.
  • Sociological Recognition: Our students will demonstrate the ability to apply the “sociological imagination” to understand and analyze social institutions, groups, and processes. The sociological imagination is the awareness of the relationships between personal experience and the wider society.
  • Sociological Communication: Our students will demonstrate the ability to communicate sociological knowledge effectively.

Please note, STAT 216Q is a prerequisite for SOCI 318R, but STAT 216Q does not count towards the 21 credits in the minor. Students who feel their current coursework may satisfy the STAT 216Q prerequisite can contact the department for review on a case-by-case basis.
