Professional Educator Option

Program Objectives

Students who complete the online Professional Educator option of the Curriculum and Instruction Master’s degree are expected to demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of a Master Teacher.

Two options are available:

  • K-12 Teachers
  • Library Media Certificate Core

Graduates will exhibit:

  1. Deep understanding of student development, diversity, and learning processes;
  2. Content mastery of the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students;
  3. Skill in managing, monitoring, and assessing student learning;
  4. Systematic reflection regarding their professional practice and experience; and
  5. Commitment to membership in a community of learners.

Program of Study for Library Media Certificate Core 

A student may apply to the M.Ed. and the Library Media Certificate initially or to the M.Ed. during the LMC program of study. A student may also apply to the M.Ed. after completion of the LMC. Students may be enrolled in both programs concurrently.
