View Course Outcomes:

  1. This one credit seminar is an integral part of the First Year Research Experience (FYRE) program.  Learning outcomes include the following: 

    1.  Students will receive foundational training to help them find and successfully engage with faculty mentored research placements. 

    2.  Students will gain an understanding of Responsible Conduct of Research, including historical roots, current issues, and training certification. 

    3.  Students will gain an understanding of research-related opportunities both long-term i (i.e. career and graduate school) and short-term (i.e. advanced undergraduate research opportunities and programming at MSU). 

    4.  The seminar will provide an additional layer of support and community for first-year students engaging in undergraduate research. 

USP 290R  Undergraduate Scholars Program: 1-4 Credits (1 Lec)

PREREQUISITE: 1st or 2nd year student and consent of collaborating faculty member. First and second year students in this course will conduct research in collaboration with a faculty member which may culminate in a research paper, a journal article, or an oral presentation. Course will address responsible conduct of research
Repeatable up to 99 credits.

USP 490R  Undergraduate Research: 1-6 Credits (1 Other)

PREREQUISITE: Consent of Undergraduate Scholars Program Directed undergraduate research/creative activity which may culminate in a research paper, journal article, or undergraduate thesis. Course will address responsible conduct of research. May be repeated
