Students earning a Certificate of Technical Studies in Behavioral Health will gain the skills needed to start working in mental and behavioral health careers. In just two semesters, graduates will be ready for entry-level positions in places like doctors' offices, behavioral health clinics, hospitals, home health care, community outreach centers, and more. You’ll learn how to be part of a healthcare team, helping with both administrative tasks and patient care to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

This program is available in a hybrid format with most courses being online.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Recognize medical terms and definitions in human psychology in correlation with mental and behavioral diagnoses and treatment protocols.
  • Identify patient behavior and addiction tendencies in relation to prescription, recreational, and illicit drug interactions.
  • Practice clinical tests and procedures including the performance of CLIA-waived tests, recording vital signs, assisting in patient exams, and demonstrating proper safety and infection control.
  • Determine the proper dosage and administration method for prescribed medication and vaccinations.
  • Prepare and document patient medical records per accreditation and regulatory standards.
  • Practice self-care modalities designed to increase general wellness and manage stress and burnout in caregivers.
  • Survey needs and explore outreach efforts for mental and behavioral health support in communities.
  • Summarize, analyze, and collect research data in mental and behavioral health.
