HTH 140 Pharmacology for HC Providers: 3 Credits (3 Lec)
General principles of drug action on multiple body systems, pharmacology of the major drug classifications, and drug side effects as well as basic concepts of mathematics used in the calculation, preparation, and administration of various medications.
HTH 220 Human Sexuality: 3 Credits (3 Lec)
(Sp, Su) A study of all aspects of human sexuality including the sexual reproductive systems, sexual behaviors, contraception, gender roles, sexual functioning, and sexually transmitted diseases.
View Course Outcomes:
- Identify the basic biological and arousal aspects of the reproductive system.
- Develop an understanding of how sexual development changes over the lifespan.
- Develop an understanding of the different types of sexually transmitted infections and the effects on the body and society.
- Recognize sexual stereotypes connected with certain individuals or groups, or certain types of sexual behavior.
- Develop an understanding of the biological and psychological causes of sexual function difficulties and dissatisfaction.
- Reflect on personal “values” and perceptions of sexuality and sexual behavior and begin to integrate others’ perceptions and points of reference.
- Enhance one’s self-knowledge concerning one’s sexuality.
HTH 455 Ethics of Community Health: 3 Credits (3 Lec)
PREREQUISITE: ANTY 101D or HDFS 101IS or PSYX 100 or SOCI 101 and junior standing. (F, Sp) This course, intended for students interested in working in human service professions (education, health, social work, counseling, human relations and resources) will focus on understanding and applying the theory of the ethic of care in real world situations. Theoretical support for the ethic of care found in diverse areas of philosophy, social justice, education, feminism, parenting, nursing, theology, and medicine will be explored. Utilizing a service learning approach, students will be engaged in understanding theories related to the ethic of care through both in-class lecture and discussion and outreach in the community

- Review and demonstrate knowledge pertaining to the foundations of ethics and morality.
- Practice applying the foundations of ethics to real-life and present-day scenarios.
- Review the foundational cases in health ethics and explain how they apply to our current ethical frameworks by which we operate in health-related fields.
- Compare and contrast classical ethical frameworks with those derived from and experienced in community health.
- Review CITI standards in Social and Behavioral Research and receive at least two related CITI training certifications.
- Illustrate the ethical roles and responsibilities as future healthcare and health-related professionals.
- Apply and critique ethical knowledge that is pertinent to real-world scenarios experienced by health professionals.
- Simulate and discuss working with the public and public officials regarding ethical regulations, guidelines, and practices related to health.
